The Feeding Trust case studies
H: Sensory Processing Disorder and Paediatric Feeding Disorder
H was exclusively breastfed and at weaning it started to become apparent that he had some sensory issues. The Feeding Trust helped him become the happy little boy he is today.
Grant: Highly selective diet and avoidance of foods
Grant, 17 years old, was referred for feeding therapy with a highly selective diet and avoidance of foods which was impacting upon his overall health and wellbeing.
Michael: Food phobias and a restricted diet
At the beginning of the program, Michael, 2 and a half years old, suffered from reflux and constipation and his accepted foods were predominately carbohydrate and dairy based.
Testimonials
Reviews and stories from some of the families that we have helped make mealtimes, goodtimes at The Feeding Trust.
Melanie, Mother of Katherine:
“Our daughter was diagnosed with severe cow’s milk allergy which led to feeding aversion and failure to wean, leading to her being fed by NG tube from the age of 6 months. After exhausting the help provided under the NHS, we turned to Natalie and her feeding team for help, and Katherine was enrolled under the SOS tube weaning programme.
Natalie and her team were excellent, encouraging positive food associations through play, structure and routine around the table and our daughter was fully weaned off the tube at 18 months. We are so grateful for all of the help and support provided from the team and our daughter is now able to eat a range of foods. The aftercare support was also fantastic once the programme was complete, and we were able to book appointments whenever we were having a wobble. I can’t thank Natalie enough for the work she has done with us and our daughter. We are so grateful for all the support she has provided us with over the years.”
Hannah Daw, Mother to Lucas
“I am mother to Lucas, a little boy who had eating issues early on in life and was fully tube fed up until the age of 3. When I found Lucy and Karen from The Feeding Trust, we worked together to build Lucas’ confidence with food and successfully tube weaned him in 2018. During this time, I began @thelucasladder on instagram to share our experiences, document Lucas’ tube wean and connect with others who also faced feeding challenges. I now spend my time running around after a cheeky little boy who eats anything and everything in large quantities, a dream I never thought would be realised! I am still active with @thelucasladder, sharing ideas on encouraging oral skill building and showing out journey from tube fed to food fed. I also am an avid fan of the SOS approach, which gave back to us our family life.”
