Training for education professionals
The Eating as Learning Curriculum
A complete curriculum developed by our multidisciplinary team of feeding therapists. Designed for SEND learners, the curriculum encompasses all aspects of learning to eat including skill-based, sensory and psychosocial factors.
What‘s included?
Half-day training session
Delivered by our specialist feeding therapists, this covers:
Misinformation about feeding; feeding development and what can go wrong; how snacks and lunchtimes at school can support learning to eat; adapting the Healthy Eating Curriculum for SEND learners; practical strategies to use in daily practice.
The Eating as Learning Curriculum Manual
A comprehensive, easy to follow structured programme to ‘pick up and do’. A years worth of lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate and can be adapted to meet the needs of individual learners, includes visual supports (symbolised resources). The curriculum is written to help children begin to extend and explore the range of food and drink within their diet.
Two mentoring sessions with a specialist feeding therapist
Coaching and mentoring from the charity, to support and troubleshoot the implementation of the curriculum.
Understanding Feeding Difficulties and Differences
Half day (3 hour) course suitable for all staff in SEND and mainstream settings. Course objectives:
To understand the causes of feeding difficulties & difficulties in children.
To challenge some of the misinformation around children’s feeding and the barrier this creates.
To introducing the concept of eating as a learning process, that progresses at different rates and in different ways.
How to introduce food exploration activities, in a responsive and neuro affirming way.
How to adapt food based activities to suit individual children’s learning style and level.
To provide hands on, practical strategies to develop children’s eating skills in your setting, including what to do at lunch and snack times.
Feel confident in knowing when to refer on to other professionals.
Training for healthcare professionals
The Eating As Learning Framework
A complete framework for the assessment and management of PFD and developmental feeding difficulties. The first course of its kind in the UK, designed specifically for UK healthcare professionals working across community settings.
Developed by our trans-disciplinary team of feeding therapists with extensive experience in clinical practice and research. Target Audience: Dietitians, Occupational Therapists, Speech & Language Therapists, Psychologists, Learning Disability Practitioners.
A comprehensive CPD accredited, two 2-day course, hosted in Temple, London. September 10th & 11th 2025.
PFD & Developmental Feeding Differences
Half day (3 hour) masterclass suitable for healthcare professionals working with children with feeding difficulties and differences covering:
